Ndako ya bokoko / la Maison Ancestrale
A performance of Yannos Majestikos with the participation of Starlette Mathata
To mark Congo Independence Day and as part of the exhibition Style Congo, CIVA is pleased to invite you to a performance by Yannos Majestikos on Friday June 30 at 8pm on the square Lumumba.
In his performance Ndako ya bokoko, the Congolese performer tackles the playground that Congo has represented and still represents in the eyes of political and economic powers, symbolizing it as an object and concept in public space.
By retracing the history of Congo through the key figures and historical figures who will be the pawns in this giant game, he invites the public to immerse themselves in the geopolitical relations between Africa and Europe.
In doing so, he reactivates history and its politico-economic stakes through this game, questioning the past and the present.
A performance by Yannos Majestikos as part of the exhibition Style Congo organised by CIVA and Twenty Nine Studio, in collaboration with KANAL - Centre Pompidou, as part of the Living Traces project.
