SQUARE ARMAND STEURS

© ARB – urban.brussels │ Collection Belfius Banque-Académie royale de Belgique
Designed by Eugène Dhuicque at the dawn of the 1930s, the Square Armand Steurs garden is one of the rare examples of Art Deco public development in the Belgian capital. Despite it being tricky terrain, the architect arranged various decorative elements on different levels, which were to adorn this beautiful esplanade in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. The numerous tree species were chosen by landscape architect Jules-Gustave Janlet. The result: urban design, street furniture and a series of sculptures that reflect the language of the decorative arts in vogue at the time. A visit not to be missed!
