Brussels Neo-Classical Weekend
For the very first edition of the 'Brussels Neo-Classical Weekend', as organized by Explore Brussels, CIVA selected a series of images coming from its proper archive collection. A portfolio of plates, recent photographies and original plans show the neo-classical movement and its structure, stringent rules, lines and symmetry. The neo-classical style was in vogue at the end of the 18th century. It was often chosen for public buildings and houses of the bourgeoisie and aristocracy. After 1830 and the birth of Belgium the style got more animated and closer to eclecticism.
