Every garden is partly autobiographical as it tells the story of the person who takes care of it …
In the heart of a city block in Evere, right next to Walkiers Park, lies a rather unique site. A passionate entomologist, Bart Hanssens has dedicated his garden to the more than 1,800 species of insect that call it home!
But there’s more than just the countless creeping, climbing and flying creatures that populate this delicate garden. Here and there, an aesthetic has been fashioned between sculpture and nature, a playground for its inhabitants. You will discover the sculptures by Griet Hubrecht and Bart’s playful and inventive repurposings of a range of salvaged objects. There is pleasure to be found in small things: that is probably the guiding principle behind this garden committed to biodiversity.
