Kristiaan Borret is the next guest in the Sofa Talks series, set up by Gideon Boie and Lieven De Cauter. Borret is Gouvernment Architect (bouwmeester maître architecte) of the Brussels-Capital Region since 2015. From 2006 to 2014 he was Stadsbouwmeester for the City of Antwerp. He is also teaching urban projects as a visiting professor at the University of Ghent since 2005. In the sofa talk with Kristiaan Borret, the development of the future KANAL cultural pole is the starting point for a conversation on architecture and the Plan Canal, urban development in Brussels, climate transition, and, in short, all the urgent issues of our time. In the background plays the question of the significance of architecture for (urban) activism and vice versa. The sofa talks are part of the Architecture & Activism seminar (KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture) and hosted by CIVA.
