An unexpected gem: rock gardens, an oriental bridge and a picturesque dovecote

SOLD OUT

Rockeries and gardens have a long history of co-existence.

Brussels has an extraordinary wealth of rock gardens. Made of cement and iron, Meuse limestone, granite, the rockeries assume a vast array of forms and functions. Follies, kiosks, rustic or oriental bridges, mock grottos, dovecotes, giant mushrooms, picturesque imitations of tree-trunks, rocks, waterfalls, islands, steps, greenhouses. They can be found in public parks, but also in private gardens.

The rockeries are the very soul of this large, picturesque garden. The property dates from 1927 and was originally a large park with winding pathways, an orchard, tennis court, pond, waterfall, dovecote and kiosk. In the 1970s it was divided up, but the garden has lost none of its old charm, thanks to the beautifully preserved and restored elements of rockery.
