In 2026, CIVA will relocate from its current premises on Rue de l’Ermitage in Ixelles to Kanal in the post-industrial north of Brussels. After decades of activities in different institutional configurations, this move offers an opportunity to reflect on what has been produced to date in exhibitions, conferences, and debates. Led by architecture historian Beatrice Lampariello, the Faculty of Architecture at UCLouvain organizes a workshop to explore the emergence of new themes, the persistence of concepts, and their evolution and interpretations over this time. Through archival word mining and critical mapping, the workshop will construct the “Landscape of C I.II.III.IV. A”: a palimpsest in time and space that has shaped and sustained discussions around contemporary issues and directions. This landscape will become a representation of the many ways in which one can make architectural history—from writing to drawing.
